Studio Assistant
Articulture Designs, a high-end plantscape design firm, is seeking a creative and hardworking studio assistant to work in our fabrication department.
About the Job
This is a full-time position. Flexibility to work some weekends is required. Primary job duties include (but are not limited to):
Aid in construction of custom projects, including (but not limited to) moss walls, framing systems, planters, plant walls, signage, etc.
Cut wood accurately according to provided specifications
Be part of installation team that installs custom work off-site at client locations; this can include hanging, lifting, setting, placing heavy and unwieldy objects using a wide range of hardware and installation systems
Keep studio shelves, bins, and cabinets tidy and orderly
Keep studio and design areas clean, includes sweeping, dusting, wiping, etc.
Restock design materials as needed
Help keep plant inventory watered and healthy
Assist your teammates when assistance is needed, even if it isn’t your main job duty
Please note the following work conditions that you must be capable of:
Stand and/or move about duration of shift (this is not a sit-down job!)
Lift 50 pounds independently
Help teammates move and lift very heavy pots, walls, structures safely
Climb and work on ladders
Work outside, in the sun, at times getting dirty and sweaty
Use basic power tools safely and skillfully (drill, jigsaw, sander, etc.)
Use basic hand tools safely and skillfully (hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc.)
Carefully work with household chemicals, paint thinners, adhesives, paints, etc.
About You
There is probably no other job like this one, so there’s little in the way of set-in-stone prior experience. But some characteristics are a must to succeed, including:
A positive, can-do attitude
Ability to take direction and critique positively
Attention to detail
Strong work ethic, and not afraid to sweat and get your hands dirty!
Fluent in English
